Performing Interior, 2009
Performing Interior is an interior design for STEIM (Center for research & development of instruments & tools for performers in the electronic performance arts in Amsterdam), in collaboration with Luna Maurer, media-designer/ artist.
The Steim building is full of objects, furniture and architecture from the past 27 years. We did not wanted to replace this stuff with new furniture, but emphasize and structure the variety of all objects with their own story. We put the objects and architecture “on stage” by painting their own - artificial - shadows. If furniture is moved or replaced after a certain time, geometric shapes remain on the walls. This way, the objects leave their traces. We painted shadows on three floors and in the concert hall. The images show a small selection of the whole variety.
